Team USA (Caden P.)

Simple much? Ok this is about as simple as it gets. Color in panels on the white, and stripe cuffs and a matching hem stripe. The red yoke is really an ugly feature on the white jersey if you ask me, and the whole design is simple, too simple, not Nike simple, but a different simple. I really dislike the crest (though it does go with the jersey). Not that there aren't any good features on it. I like the striping pattern on the blue jersey (if it was moved up), and the gold medals in the collar are a nice touch. Concept Rating 6/10

San Jose Sharks (Jake88/Me)

What if Nike took over the NHL? I hope that the Sharks would wear something like this. The wave striping fits in with the name and it's angled to stay similar to the last Pre-Edge jerseys. Sunday: Canada and St. John's?

Hello people who read this blog! In today's post I will be reviewing the Canadian Olympic jerseys and St. John's Icecaps new thirds. In my personal life, I scored a goal in my team's game yesterday and my first in the regular season. Sadly our team couldn't hold on to a 2-1 lead and we tied 2-2, I was a plus 2 in the whole game. In the game I had this morning we didn't do nearly as good and lost 1-2. On to the jerseys!

Team Canada

In my opinion, these have by far the most potential of any of the jersey's released thus far. All you need to do is add the one stripe to the other side. Maybe if you want to, continue the gold outline of the leaf to the rest of the chest stripe, but it might be too much. Jersey Rating: 7.5/10

St. John's Icecaps

Here is a victory for concept artists everywhere. Troy Birmingham, a graphic artist from St. John's, Newfoundland approached the newly founded team in 2011 with his design. Although I wouldn't normally like this much silver anywhere, it doesn't look bad here (I'm not really a fan of the Whalers jerseys that were like that). The one thing that kinda confuses me is that the collar is a tiedown and the yoke is square. These are features that are on most of Reebok's new jerseys. I'm guessing Reebok got involved there. The logo isn't bad, for an American like me I had to read the Icethetics article to find out what the tower in the background was, but It's a good feature. Jersey Rating: 8/10

Texas Stars

I couldn't help but bring these up too. This is another concept artist who made his design in real life. This one was designed by a player of the Texas Stars though. The player, Taylor Vause, had done this before, with the Swift Current Broncos, he made two designs that he wore in games. You can read about them here. About the jerseys, the only problem is mismatching placement of the stars between the hem and sleeves. Jersey Rating: 8/10

Tuesday: I Take Back Everything!

Hey everyone! I'm sorry for the late post, I forgot. Today I will rate the new Olympic jerseys unveiled. Yes, these went pretty much under the radar is here's the link to the Icethetics article. The jerseys are there so check it out.

I don't really like USA's jersey. The logo on it looks to Rochester Americans. The jersey is way worse the "stars" on the yoke look HORRIBLE, and to add to that the fake laces are even worse! The collar with the two gold medals is a nice touch, and the striping in different and looks nice. To sum it up, the Americans got a throwback style logo, glued on stars and fake laces on the jersey. Also the jersey could benefit from a hem stripe.

God, what the Russians are suiting up in are even worse! By that I mean the white jersey. What I take from that jersey is the 90's style jerseys are back. And that's more than bad.

Ok, now for the reason of the post title. I thought (up until now) that Nike had some good design features a could make some nice NHL uniforms. Now I hope Reebok can protect that contract. Hey, a hem stripeless San Jose jersey is better than a Sharks jersey with a huge logo in the middle.
