Saturday: Putting LEGO blocks together for this post.

Hi everyone, Alan here for another Saturday here on HCI. Well in case you want to know what the title means? Well tonight I'm going to the movie theater to watch "The LEGO Movie!" I'm excited to see this movie, ah my childhood is coming back to me. After that this Sunday I'm off to Dresden to watch some Jr.C playoffs action on afternoons, and back to my town of Chatham to watch my Jr.B team the Maroons in action. Well enough of that, on to concepts.

New York Islanders Alternate concept [By K14]
Up points: Black with bright colors is not easy to pull off, but this one really works for me. The logo maybe not the best to everyone, but with right colors like this one it works. The hem stripes is wavily nice.
Down points: The Brooklyn Nets logo, and the numbers is too plain for this jersey. The arm stripes is good, but withe the wave hem stripe make the jersey look unbalance.
My Suggestion: Change the number fonts to anything with trim to give that eye pop effect. Use ether the team's main logo, or the lighthouse logo as shoulder patch. lastly give the arm stripes the same treatment as the hem stripe.

Fort Wayne Komets Concept [by me]
Back in 2012 this is my first ever ECHL concept the Fort Wayne Komets, this team had alot of history from their days in the old IHL to being the official member of the ECHL. This concept I try to give a "modern" look to it with the strips on the arms, made the spaceman logo as the teams main crest because it look very modern and I like the logo, add their classic comet with the "K" logo on it as the secondary logo on the shoulder and use the New York Islanders old 2002-2007 alternate jersey fonts for both the numbers and NOB.

Well that's today post. I know some of you all where hoping for more concepts, well ah ha yeah I'm getting low on concepts. But you can make the difference by sending your concepts in! Just send them to hockeyconceptideas@gmail.com so we can post more concepts on this site. Until then, I'm off to movie theater and enjoy the LEGO movie. Later!

Sunday: The crazy week begins

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. Well if you all didn't send your entry to the Blue Jays contest, I'm sorry it's too late to send it because we are now on the voting round right now, just click on the Blue Jays Comp for info. But that doesn't mean you have to stop sending your concepts in just send them to hockeyconceptideas@gmail.com.

Here are the last batch of of the Blue Jays entries

Ricky M.

Alan H.

Creighton Comp Voting ends this Saturday Dec 28

Last night I went to Wheatley for an hockey game it was fun to watch an Jr.C league game, the Sharks won the game, and may I say they have the best locker room that opens before they hit the ice.

With that out of the way, on to the concepts

Los Angeles Kings concept [by Matthew M.]
Up points: Nice idea of bringing back the purple, and gold back. The logo is well tweaked to the mix of classic and modern. It maybe the same template as the team's current white uniform, but with different collar on both of these jersey gives it more better look.
Down points: Nothing much say any bad about this one.
My Suggestion: The only thing is add purple trim around the logo on the gold jersey, that's all.

Indy Fuel concept [by Caden P.]
Up points: Good idea on using the checker stripes to give it a little fitting theme to the team. Using red as the team's main color followed by yellow and black.
Down points: The numbers on the back, and the small numbers on the front is standard block, while the TV numbers is SF Piezolectric, it doesn't really fit the jersey. The yellow collar looks O.K. on the dark jersey, but yellow collar on the white looks plain to me.
My Suggestion: Fix the fonts on the numbers, so they can be on the same page, the only thing that you can get away with two different fonts is nameplates. Add trim(s) to the collars to give some life to it. Lastly add the team's secondary logo on the shoulder.

Florida Panthers concept [by Matthew M.]
Up points: The design on the jerseys are well made. using the navy blue trim on the numbers for both home and road is an good move. Lastly red as the team's main color fit this team in a good way!
Down points: The front logo looks good, but it's only work on an alternate jersey to me. The road looks like it has less red on it to me.
My Suggestion: Put the full body panther with the broken hockey stick on these jerseys. On the road switch the navy blue and red stripes and it'll be complete.

Wheatley Sharks OHA Great Lakes Jr C Jerseys Concept [by me]
This is the Wheatly Sharks OHA Great Lakes Jr C Jerseys Concept. It’s pretty much a recolored Worcester Sharks concept just to fit the teams theme, their main crest is their own just add outer lines around the crest, the colors I gave them is navy blue, royal blue, red, and silver, and of course like most of junior C teams have a Canadian Flag on their yokes. This is what the team currently wearing right now.

Belleville Bulls OHL concept [by me]

This Concept I kept it simple made only 3 stripes on the hem, the wrist cuffs, socks, and V-neck those 3 stripes represent decades, over 30 years that this club been around, the main crest is their old crest they use since the beginning and they still use them for both their dark, and 3rd while their white jersey they got that cartoon bull, back to the concept the main crest is indeed the old bull just add trim around the crest and "Boom!" my Belleville Bulls concept.

Well that's today post. What do you think of my  Wheatley Sharks and/or my Belleville Bulls concept?

Until then Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkahs, Happy Kwanza, Happy Decemberween, Happy whatever Holiday you're celebrate.  I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to.

Sunday. 1 concept. Kinda late too.

Hey guys! I'm glad you're reading the 99th post in HCI history. It's short but sweet. I've been busy working on the 9 concept, 3 writer post for tomorrow. I can't believe it will have been 100 posts!

Evansville Icemen Caden Patafie

Other than my Nike NHL series. This is my first concept where I applied the striping to a blank template, instead of using a Paint Users Paradise template and just changing the colors and applying logos. I know to all you experienced jersey designers it doesn't mean much but I'm pretty proud of it. Considering I use Microsoft paint for my concepts. You can judge the concept in the comments. It's pretty self explanatory.

Thanks for reading! And come back tomorrow for the 100th post!

Monday, Monday. Gotta get down on Monday!

Hello fellow concept fans! Caden here today on Veterans/Remembrance day.

The Icemen have made a small uniform change which I thought I should mention here,

Before

After

Notice the addition of shoulder yokes. Tell me what you think of the change in the comments!

To the concepts!

London Sabreswords Special Event Alan John Herbert

This is a Specialty Jersey by AJH for his HCIHL team, The London Sabreswords.

Yay:
The Font
The "Poppy" Colours
The Yoke Striping

Nay:
The Black Arm panels

Creativity Credit:
I like the Poppy right/top corner and the leaf in the "Sabresword". Very creative!

A solid concept that is classy for a specialty jersey! A 9.8/10

Evansville Rivermen Memorial Day Game Caden Patafie

This is a Specialty Jersey I made for my HCIHL team, The Evansville Rivermen

I made this jersey for the Rivs. Sort of self explanatory. Tell me what you think in the comments!

Before I go, I would like to thank all who have served or are serving in the American or Canadian Armed Forces. Keeping the press free so I can "review" jerseys like Buffalo's third.

Thanks for reading! (And if you serve, Thanks for serving!)

Saturday

Sup? Caden here! Sorry about the late post. There's no jersey news to write about or anything like that, so these intros are the hardest part to write. A quick HCIHL update before the concepts

All 3 of the scores have changed since I took this screenshot. The difference is no more than .2 though.

Buffalo Sabres Me (Caden)

I made this concept with many elements of the Sabre's history, and added some new features, but tried to keep everything clean and balanced. The only difference from Home to Away is switching white with blue, Except for keeping the collar and cuffs blue and replacing the helmet logo with a wordmark. You can review my concept in the comments, or Jake/Justin can review it at a later date.

Reading Royals Jake88

I like this concept. A fresh clean jersey Reading needs. From their jerseys to there arena, it's all too old fashioned and bland. A 3rd like this would fix that! I'm a fan of that shade of purple in all the jerseys, not just this one. The unique yoke is also a big plus! I'm not getting the Diamond on the shoulder yokes, but if you explained your reasoning it would be fine. I would swicth the numbers so it would be Grey with a Black outline. And that pants stripe! Not my favorite! Those are my only complaints for the design. *Quick Execution Note. As of 13/14, The ECHL uses CCM jerseys, and not Reebok. As pictured below. They also use the "Pre Edge" wool socks.

My likes outweigh the dislikes and execution errors. A "royal" 8/10

Sorry for the lateness! Thanks for reading! (See what I did there) (Ya know, the Reading concept) (Cause there spelled the same) (No?) (Ok!)

Post for the "Night Owls" !

Sorry for the Lateness! Me and Jake have been busy and Justin hasn't contacted me, so I guess I [Caden] will be writing today's post!

HCIHL scores (At time of press)

These scores aren't final, but the Rivermen pretty have their game in the bag. I would almost dare to say that for Altoona too! The London/Hamilton game is pretty close though! Tomorrow when I get a chance I will put the Final scores on the HCIHL website.

On to the Concepts!

Toronto Maple Leafs (Justin Sulpico)

Justin gives us a "Team Canadaish" jersey set for our 1st concept today and I (here comes the scorn) REALLY LIKE IT! If you took all extra leaves off like around the captins "C" and on the back, and then made the stripes straight. You would have a great jersey! I'm a fan of out of the box stuff (as you see with 75% of my concepts) and this is great! The triangle stripes don't match the look of the jersey so I have to give this jersey a

6.9/10

Evansville Icemen (Jake88)

Jake has a concept for my favorite team, The Evansville Icemen! I like the striping and font, the choice of colo(u)rs and everything! I would have done the "Face" on the helmet, or just the regular logo. The wordmark doesn't stand out enough! One note for your future ECHL concepts, their is a new rule in the ECHL that mandates the wool socks. Instead of the synthetic ones. To benefit lower budget teams.  Also gloves have to be one color and Reebok edge jerseys aren't allowed.

Concept Rating 9.5/10

Thanks for reading! The next post from each writer will tell what they thought of "Mighty" Aniheim Ducks throwback night! Stay tuned!!!

Thanks for reading!

Friday

Hey its Caden here on a WONDERFUL Friday! My Ducks Redesign Comp. Jersey is on HJC so go vote for it. If not, vote for jakes!

I like the Concept, But it seems a little too Toledoish. (Toledo Walleye ECHL) I think the numbers could be wider too. Aside from that, a great design. I would like to see this in the AHL.

Concept Rating 8/10

This is a concept I made for the ECHL Evansville Icemen. Tell me what you think in the comments!

Hates and Greats: Hates

Well since I really haven't been making that many concepts of late, and you guys haven't been sending in anything, I decided to do this, make a likes and dislikes list. First the credits

Logos and some jerseys Sportslogos.net
Some jerseys NHLuniforms.com

DISLIKES: JERSEYS
5. The "Flying V" Vancouver Canucks (1979-81)
Vancouver's original jerseys had a V in the striping. Wasn't this taking it to far?

4. The "Wild Wing" Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (1996)
The logo and the font explain it all. The rest of the jersey isn't that bad.

3. "Yellow Ice" Kalamazoo K-Wings (IHL) (2009)
From Icethetics
And this isn't embarrassing how? It's sad that they still this is the ECHL.

2. St. Louis Blues Unused Jersey St. Louis Blues (1996-97
From thefulleffect.wordpress.com
I am going to use the same line that the guy from the site mentioned above said. "OH GOD, WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? SOMEBODY KILL IT WITH FIRE! Unused for a reason."

1. "Stormy Jersey" Tampa Bay Lightning (1996-99)
Sadly it can't be killed with fire... Don't worry we can find a way, Hahahaha goodbye worst jersey in Tampa Bay history. Seriously it makes the brush font look worse.

DISLIKES: LOGOS

5. Milwaukee Admirals "Skullhead" (2006-pres)
I love the color scheme, but with this comic book logo. It doesn't intimidate me at all, in fact I probably would hug it, does anyone want that.

4. "Vancouver Orcas" Vancouver Canucks (1997-pres)
Ok, ok this isn't that bad of a logo, but until I was about ten I thought a Canuck was a whale.
I know for a fact that Vancouver doesn't want that. And I'm sure I am not alone.

3. Kelowna Rockets (2000-pres)
How is this a logo today. I mean 90's. Someone make an update.

2. Kootenay Ice (1998-pres)
Another WHL logo, same comments apply.

1. Sapa Fehervar AV19 Erste Bank Hockey Liga (Austria) (2007-pres)
WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY!

Likes will be on Saturday. Hey maybe Caden can do the same on Friday.

Hump Day!

Sorry for the late post. I had so much homework its not even funny! I like the sharks jersey except for the numbers on the front and the asymmetrical stripe. I rate san jose's jersey a 9.1/10
I wish this picture wasn't so blurry on the blog! i wasn't like that on my email!
I like everything about the design except for the fading stripe on the bottom of the orange jersey. To Vancouverish (from their red to black fading alt of the 00's) . Execution ERROR time! the ECHL a couple months ago outlawed edge socks and jerseys in fairness to teams like Elmira with a attendance of 2,023 opposed to teams like Evansville with a attendance of 5,843 or FTW Komets (7,014)

Rating 9.35/10

Monday (UGH!)

The only thing sent in today was a concept logo by Steven1010. The concept logo is a logo for the fantasy ECHL North Carolina Monarchs. I love the logo design but I would use a different font for the "NC" at the top of the logo. I would give this design a 9.4/10

HCI is on Twitter @HCIblog! Give us a follow!!!

Thursday

Hey Readers! We'll start off with the 1st ECHL ReDesign
                                Alaska Aces (Jake88)
We start off with a ECHL ReDesign for the Alaska Aces. I think this is a well designed jersey and is much better than the one they have now. The only beef I have about the jersey is the striping I think there is too much on the arms making the jersey look sloppy. I love the design and Would love to see the Aces in something like this for the 14/15 season
Concept Rating 9.5/10
