Thursday: Back to concepts.

Caden here on a beautiful Thursday! In western IN at least. So, after seeing the interesting Nike jerseys brought along by Jake88, are you ready to see some concepts that actually look good? I hope so, we have some super sweet concepts today for you guys to check out. So yeah. I'm not going to give concepts a number rating this post, I think that people focus on the number rating of a concept too much that they miss what the writer (or readers) suggest to do with the concept. which is what HockeyConceptIdeas is here for anyways. To help designers improve their concepts, not just tell them how bad (or good) it is.

Pittsburgh Pens [Dallas Kirkpatrick]

Though Dallas is becoming an HJC regular, this is his first concept on HockeyConceptIdeas, so welcome! We always like getting submitted concepts, because it gives you guys something to read about. I've always liked the logo used here and the Vegas gold/black color scheme as well, so I really like that they were used together. I think tie down collars are overused in hockey, even if it was part of the original design. The stripes are a little on the think side as well. If they were thinner and the current pens collar was used, we'd have an almost perfect concept!

Buffalo Sabres 3rd [Robb Clarke]

According to the email Robb sent me, he started making concepts 2 weeks ago! For 2 weeks, he is a pretty good designer. On to the concept, I like the chest stripe and the vintage white. The jersey looks classic and doesn't have a "sublimated cape" on the back like the real Buffalo one has. For such a classic design, I would have used a more block font, to fit the whole feel. I would also remove the colored namebar. Which looks good in Philly, and Orlando (ECHL), but no where else. A matter of personal prefrence, but the crossed swords captain's patch in vintage white would look good. Anyone?
